RMG owners, labor leaders consensus of 5 points

Ready-made garment (RMG) manufacturers and labor leaders pledged Saturday against any kind of volatility and conspiracy against the clothing industry work together.

A joint briefing in the city of Bangladesh said garment manufacturers and exporters Association (BGMEA) and labor leader they have reached consensus on five points.

According to the consensus, both parties would work together, calm to the labor unrest, which recently created a volatile situation in the area.

They agreed also to thwart any kind of national or international conspiracy against the industry.

The heads of State and Government said in the press conference some opportunists rumors to the their personal enrichment were distributed that would thwart the owners and the workers leaders together.

The leaders urged the Government to find the culprits and bring them to book.

At the briefing, promised the owner on payment of the salaries and Festival clear bonus before Eid-ul-Azha.

The labor leader called the wage Board authorities to declare new wages for the workers. They were sure that all owners also would implement new wages in their respective factories, immediately after they are declared.

BGMEA President MD. Atiqul Islam, former President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin and were over 40 Union leaders at the press conference.

In the meantime UNB by Gazipur adds: production suspended readymade (RMG) garment factories in Gazipur town on 10 and at the gates of Sripur broke on Saturday morning as violence over minimum wage from scratch.

As a continuation to the incident, the authorities declared five garment units in terms of holiday for the day.

Required number of law enforcement, including BGB and RAB, patrolled the areas to prevent any unwanted situation.
